Pepper, known by their online handle localpatchofgrass, is a traditional and digital artist with a broad range of skills and styles.

They have always been encouraged to create, and used to read, draw, and write all the time in their younger years. Now this interest and passion is becoming their livelihood, studying Fine Art and English throughout school before completing both a foundation diploma and a BA degree in Fine Art in 2020.

Since graduation, Pepper has been taking steps further into the art world, creating fantasy portraits and character concepts, whilst dabbling in 3D design, textiles, and jewellery making!

Pepper is a proud self-proclaimed nerd and queer artist, taking inspiration from fantasy games, LGBTQ+ pioneers, and anything bright and colourful that sparks their interest!

University Artist Statement

A nonbinary and anxiety-ridden artist who draws inspiration from their own personal experiences as a queer person. Using primarily small-scale paintings to explore their identity within the LGBTQ+ community, their works can be jarring, vulnerable, cathartic, and celebratory all at once. They have recently branched into performance and clothing artworks to bring these raw and hurting emotions to life.
